A Clear Path to Musical Growth
The YAMP Core Program guides students in grades 1–12 through a carefully sequenced, holistic music education. From technique, theory, and ear training to performance and creative expression, students grow as musicians while developing alongside a community of fellow learners.

A Sequenced Path
Students progress through a carefully sequenced curriculum, building strong technical and artistic foundations. Each lesson is structured to ensure growth in repertoire, technique, theory, ear training, and musicianship.
Holistic Development
We shape well-rounded musicians by combining technical skill with ear training, theory, creativity, and performance. Students don’t just play notes—they gain the understanding and confidence to express themselves through music.
Community & Connection
In addition to their weekly lessons, students also grow through shared experiences—whether in performance classes, ensembles, the YAMP Music Club, or recitals. These opportunities build confidence, collaboration, and a sense of belonging in their musical journey.
Recognized Achievement
We celebrate progress every step of the way! When students complete a level, they earn a YAMP Certificate of Completion, medal, and public recognition to honor their hard work.
The Core Program also prepares students for optional Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams, graded by certified examiners. The RCM is internationally recognized, and its exams provide feedback, certificates, and a record of achievement that can strengthen college applications for music and non-music majors alike.

Piano students build a strong foundation in technique, repertoire, sight-reading, ear training, and musical expression. Early instruction blends rote learning, intervallic reading, and pattern recognition, helping students become confident readers while playing music beyond their current reading level.
Students in grades 1–8 at the beginning (method book) stage can choose from two tracks:
Accelerated Track: A unique small group format combining individual instruction with the benefits of peer learning. Lessons are 55 minutes.
Traditional Track: Weekly private lessons of 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
Primary Methods Used — Piano Safari, Piano Express, RCM, Supplemental Repertoire
-
Violin students develop tone, intonation, bowing, fingering, and ear training through step-by-step instruction. Early lessons emphasize note reading, posture, and bow hold, while familiar melodies and clear visual guidance help students gain confidence and expressive skill.
Primary Methods Used — Sassmannshaus, RCM, Supplemental Repertoire
-
Guitar students begin with a classical foundation, focusing on tone production, finger technique, and sight-reading. As skills grow, students have the opportunity to explore other styles, including contemporary, jazz, rock, and folk, building versatility while maintaining strong fundamentals.
